SUPER SPLASH BOY

The building is on fire, and Johnny Splash is in over his head!
Play as Johnny Splash in Super Splash Boy, a precision-based arcade platformer packed with challenging obstacles, fast-paced action, and classic retro gameplay!
When Johnny's apartment building erupts into a raging inferno, it's up to him to escape! But getting out won't be easy. With 16 floors and 75 unique screens to conquer, Johnny will need quick reflexes, clever maneuvering, and a steady supply of water to make it to safety.
Use Johnny's full range of moves to navigate the burning building:
- Slide: Squeeze under tight spaces, dodge hazards, and navigate narrow passages.
- Climb: Scale ladders vertically and travel horizontally across overhead platforms to reach otherwise inaccessible areas.
- Squirt Gun: Blast away fires that block your path and clear dangerous obstacles.
- Precision Platforming: Jump, dodge, and carefully navigate challenging environments where one wrong move can cost you precious time.
But Johnny isn't the only one trapped inside! Along the way, you'll encounter neighbors who need rescuing. Will you take the time to save them, or will you look out for yourself and race toward the exit?

IMPORTANT NOTE: AI DISCLOSURE
No generative AI was used in the development or production of the actual game.
We did, however, use a large language model to take an existing scene from the game and give it a 2.5D appearance for the box art. While this was a relatively minor use of AI, we believe in being completely transparent about it.
I take great pride in developing my games by hand, writing the code manually in 6502 assembly using NESmaker. The gameplay, mechanics, programming, and everything that makes this game what it is are built by me, not generated by AI.
The only other occasional use of AI during development is as a debugging aid. When working through particularly lengthy subroutines, sometimes hundreds of lines of code, I may use it to help identify bugs and save some troubleshooting time.
We believe it's important to be upfront about exactly how AI is used, and equally important to recognize the hands-on work, creativity, and craftsmanship that go into making this game.

16 floors and 75 screens of a burning building with IT'S NES HARD as a selling point is a bold promise, and stopping to rescue neighbours vs just running for the exit is such a great little tension to build in. quick one does saving neighbours actually change anything, like an ending or a score bonus, or is it purely a time risk tradeoff?
HI Janet, rescuing neighbors wont effect the outcome of the game other than your final grade: but what kind of person would you be to let little children burn in the flames! haha I hope you enjoy it!
the final grade gives players a reason to be brave, but the little children make it hard to choose otherwise haha! btw, i've really enjoyed chatting with u about your games haha would u be comfy continuing our little game dev convo on another platform? no pressure at all if you'd rather stay here!
